Quote of the Day Before Yesterday

-I like to look at pieces of writing as works of architecture.

Favourite Non-fiction Writers

In my analytical journalism class today, we were asked to name our favourite non-fiction writers. These are our non-fiction superstars:

Procrastionista

My inner procrastionista feels like reading one of these instead of finishing a piece of analytical journalism.

I have no intention of becoming a fashion journalist, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be a fashionable journalist.

“YOU CAN FIND INSPIRATION IN ANYTHING, AND IF YOU CAN’T – LOOK AGAIN”

I try to live by that (that’s why I framed it and put it on my bookshelf).

My Press Credentials So Far

Image

I know – there’s only 3. I have interviewed 6 bands since June 2011, one of which turned into a cover story for the student magazine I write for.  Not that I’m a sucker for music celebrities, I just love the raw and direct energy around live music. Let’s see how many press passes I have collected in a year from now.

My interview-turned-cover-story with The Blue Van.

Are Bloggers the New Journalists?

I found my self wondering about that very question whilst cooking dinner. I guess at least fashion bloggers do in some way function as fashion journalists. The newest trend is not found in magazines anymore but on the blogs. Fashion bloggers are more than just trend reporters. Some of them are style icons themselves. For example Swedish Elin Kling and Norwegian Hanneli Mustaparta

ZINES

I have been totally magazine obsessed since I was a little girl. I remember going to the library and browsing through their collection for hours. I was the youngest person sitting in the library’s reading room. But I didn’t really care – I was in another world. Funny enough I started studying literature before I realized that I wanted to be a journalist. To live for the pages. Write. I still love books and would never ever give them up. I do believe that to be a good journalist you need to have a solid literary backbone. You need to read, get inspired, lure how to formulate beautiful sentences. Why shouldn’t journalism be filled with arty, literary wording?

At It Again

This week has been a bit hectic. Lots of work and group work on finishing a research project and presenting it. In the midst of it all I got a call from the local SPOT Festival asking me to write for them during the festival. I’m so excited about it. However, I need to put all my excitement aside for a while – it’s exam time once again.
